Rincón’s cuisine has become notable as among the most varied and delectable outside San Juan. Most establishments offer casual, outdoor dining that indulges diners in warm breezes and fragrant tropical blooms, without the fuss of dressing up. The following are some of my favorite dining places, or places that come highly recommended.

Fun Coast (Puntas Neighborhood)

Banana Dang. Tel: 787-823-0963. Route 413, Km. 4.1. Hang out at this great Internet café with select Puerto Rican coffees, banana smoothies, organic and fair-trade teas, and healthy baked goods.

The Lazy Parrot Restaurant. Tel: 787-823-0101. Route 413, Km. 4.1Seasonally and locally inspired cuisine.

The Rum Shack. Tel: 787-823-0103. At The Lazy Parrot Inn, Route 413, Km. 4.1. Casual cuisine and tropical drink specials.

Tamboo Seaside Grill. Tel: 787-823-8550. Gall Rd Blvd (the beach road in Puntas). Seafood, American and Caribbean cuisine.

The Tapas Bar at Casa Isleña. Tel: 787-823-1525. On a side street off Gall Rd Blvd (the beach road in Puntas). Eclectic tapas, organic salads and sangría.

Sunset Coast

Calypso Café. Tel: 787-823-1626. Route 4413, on Marías Beach on the way to the Lighthouse. A favorite hangout of the surfing crowd, offering American grill favorites.

Harbor Restaurant. Tel: 787-823-0547. At the Sunset Village “market” on the Rincón Public Beach, just 1-1/2 blocks from the condo. Fresh seafood, lobster, steak, pasta and mofongo.

La Rosa Inglesa. Tel: 787-823-4032. Interior Route 413, Km. 2.0. English-style breakfast.

Shipwreck Bar & Grill. Tel: 787-823-0578. Off Route 413 on Black Eagle Road by the Marina. International menu. Voted “Best Restaurant in Rincon” in 2007 and 2008.

The Spot. Tel: 787-823-3510. Off Route 413 at the end of Black Eagle Road at the Marina. Fresh seafood, steaks, pasta and more on water’s edge.

Caribbean Coast

La Ana de Cofresí Restaurant. Tel: 787-823-2450. At Hotel Villa Cofresí, off Route 115, Km 12.0. Steak, seafood and Puerto Rican cuisine.

La Cima Sunset Restaurant. Tel: 787-823-1072. Pico Atalaya, Route 411. Enjoy traditional Puerto Rican cuisine at a hilltop restaurant with a panoramic view of the area.

Surf’s Up Coffee. Tel: 787-823-1953. Route 115, Km 11. Hot, cold or frozen mochas, lattes, coffee smoothies, bagels, pastries, ice cream cakes. Free WiFi Internet access.
